Once again this year I have had the privileged of working with Katie, the owner of My Kids Lids. I adore Katie and her designs. We always have a blast working together and we have the best models! Her line keeps expanding each year, bringing in new adorable must haves for your children! This year the bracelets, headbands and hair clips are to die for! You must get some for you little one! Not to mention the little purses she has too. Oh My Goodness!!! This is the perfect time of year to grab a few item from My Kids Lids as well- fill those stockings with cozy fleece hats, scarves, purses and much more!

Meeting this family was just so much fun! I have to imagine that there is a lot of laughter that goes down in this family. The smiles were completely captivating and the love towards each other was amazing. We ventured down to the local train station, it was a beautiful day! The sun was shinning and we headed over to the old train. We were stopped in our tracks though and had very stern instructions to not go on them or touch the track. So, we obeyed. It was very hard to obey, but the train conductor stood watching to make sure we stayed in line.

Thank you so much! It was wonderful meeting your beautiful family. I do not think I have laughed so much in a session- you all are great! {even the little bit cranky one. ;) }

Sweet baby Fi is the newest addition to my best friends family. Stacy and I have been friends for a very long time...I feel old saying that we met 16 years ago! I love being able to still have a close relationship and I love watching out families grow. Stacy and Brian have such a beautiful relationship, and these two amazing kids are proof of that!

When I prepare myself for my sessions I go through the usual check list- cards, lenses, battery and so on. But with this absolutely wonderful lady, I must never forget my running shoes. The only problem, I forgot. I was so excited that I had found my favorite boots in the basement, that I threw them on and headed out the door. Now they are comfortable, but they are in no way a running shoe. And when one is photographing my dear miss {a}, you need to remember you will be running, a lot! Right mom?

Words can not explain they way that these two touch my life. There is a bond between them that is unsurpassed. Being around them inspires me to me a better mom. I love just watching the relationship they have. I have gotten to know Rebecca over the past few years and I look up to this woman so much. She is strong, confident and beautiful. She is miss {a}'s rock and protector. I love you two so much and am so blessed to call you friends. Watching you two over the past few years has been a joy, there has been pain involved at times, but your grace and dedication to each other is captivating. Enjoy you pictures- I am just in love with them all!

Fall is here.

The mornings are crisp and as I type rain falls outside my window. The leaves are in full color, the evenings are filled with the smells of burning leaves. We are digging out our hats and coats over here, gearing up for the next few months. I do love the cozy nights and the lazy fall afternoons.

This beautiful family meet me at Lapham Peak in Delafield. What an amazing morning! The trees were radiant and the air was rather warm for this time of year. Mr. {L} was picture perfect as were mom and dad. Just look at him! Isn't he the cutest? Those big brown eyes and sweet smiles. He is the apple of mom and dads eye for sure!

I was lucky enough to spend the afternoon with these three beautiful ladies! These pictures are a surprise for the man of the house. I was told that he would not see these, and that it was totally fine to post- so no one better share these with him! He has been asking for some time to have pictures taken of his girls. Isn't that so sweet?

We had a ton of fun and laughed a lot!

The relationship between them is amazing, beautiful and so funny! They are truly a happy bunch, full of life and love. I was able to get some stunning pictures of the girls by themselves, first up was Miss {M}.

The bond between these two is really such a beautiful thing to watch. Even with the age gap, they are truly sisters. As mom said, yes they fight as all siblings do, but over all they really have a great relationship. It was so wonderful spending time at your lovely place! It was a perfect day. Thank you!

I had a great afternoon meeting up with this bunch at my favorite spot Monches Farm. If you are in the area, you must check it out! It is unbelievable. Lush gardens, beautiful landscaping and chickens! I was able to spend some time with each of kids to do a little one on one session. Oldest to youngest we have:

Being a photographer is amazing. It is a job that I truly love. I have a hard time calling it a job since it is something that is such a joy to do, it never really seems like a job! Even the at home work that I put in is exciting and creative- It gets me going and keeps me awake till all hours of the night! But what is far more amazing to me isn't the job itself it is the peek inside people lives. Year after year I get to grow with with these families, take a part in a very important part of their lives- the images that will live on for years. Freezing little moments in time. It is a honor and a joy. For three years I have photographed this family. When I met them, Tiffany was just weeks away from delivering her first baby girl and six short weeks after she was born I was there. Now a independent three year old, I can talk with her and tell her all about the secret smiling berries in the woods. It is such a joy and such an honor.

Thank you {W} Family. I have loved watching your family grow and I am thrilled to continue to watch these beautiful young girls grow up.

We even managed to pick a few smile berries- guess what they worked! :)

Meeting up with the {M} family at the Orchard was the best! We found ourselves a cozy little nook among the apple trees and made ourselves at home. Thanks to their amazing style and antique flare- everything was absolutely perfect. Not to mention the weather, it was downright perfection. Little {e} enjoyed walking through the orchard trees and of course was able to spot the big tractor out in the field. {E} is such a busy sweet little man- It was so fun to finally meet him.

I can not forget to mention this chair. It is mr.{e}'s favorite chair. He loves to climb up on it and chill out. It is a beautiful antique rocker. It will also forever be know as the "Chicken Chair". Because how else are you going to keep a busy boy still? You place him in favorite chair, pop in a piece of yummy chicken nugget and snap away! ;)

We tried as hard as we could to avoid the rain. We moved things up and according to weather.com we had an entire hour before any rain was to fall. Instead within .5 seconds of arrival the rain started. It drizzled mostly, light to heavy and back to light again. Thankfully we were tucked away in the magical surrounding of Monches Farm. There was lush nooks that provided shelter and trees that took the place of umbrellas. We explored the beautiful greenhouses and eventually had to get out a little, the pumkins were calling our names.

Miss Z is a vibrant little girl. A little girl that has a heart condition. A little girl that has endured more than I could ever imagine.

I have a big family. Like really big. The kind of family that rents an entire camp to have their reunions at. I love it. Some are near, some are very far away. It has been a few years since our family has had a wedding, till now! The next generation of cousins will be starting families in the near future. I am so excited to see the family grow again. New faces being brought into the bunch. New conversation, new talent. It is a blessing! I am so happy to see my cousin find such a great man to marry. I know you two will be very happy together for many years!

I was so close to knowing what this little baby is going to be! You see the mr. and mrs. do not want to find out the gender of this upcoming arrival. I understand, we didn't find out with our last one. But, here is the kicker- they have an envelope. An envelope that tells them what they will be having and it is just sitting on their coffee table! What? And they haven't peeked. They have way more self control than I could ever have. Last week when I was at their house, I held the envelope. I wanted to tear that thing open, but I refrained my self. (plus, I think K would have decked me and we all know you do not mess with a pregnant lady)

Well, we are also so close to meeting little Ez-P! {K and B} are dear friends and it was so much fun taking these pictures. The joy that surrounds expecting parents, the overflowing loves that they fell for this baby is going to keep getting stronger and stronger. I know they are going to be amazing parents. We love you guys and cannot wait to hear of his/her arrival!

Yep. It happened again! We scheduled another photo shoot with one of my favorite families. Each time we have been together, there is always something memorable that goes on. For instance a concussion and a almost lost shoe in the creek. Well, we managed to once again loose a shoe into the Cedar Creek! With some pretty stealthy moves mom rescued the very wet tennis shoe. Thankfully everything else went wonderfully.

Here is a little sneak peak! I know you are excited to see some pictures of your beautiful wedding. There are oh so many more to go through! Every last detail was so perfect. Might as well just let him go to the creek. No matter how hard we tried he wasn't going to enjoying the afternoon unless he was by the creek. We managed to grab a few quick shots around the park, but then we shed our shoes on the banks of the creek. It was great fun walking on the rocks and exploring the water.

Little {E} was much happier discovering things around him, and I'm pretty sure these images capture him perfectly.

I was able to donate a Photography Package for our school auction this past spring. These two sweet ladies were the lucky recipients of a full sitting. They were absolutely wonderful! After just a few minutes they opened right up and were such chatterboxes, not to mention fabulous at acting out several animals! We had a blast playing "who am I" and talking about a certain someones birthday surprise coming up! ;) Thanks for such a great time, it was ton's of fun. I met the lovely bride just over a year ago through the Littlest Hero's Project. Since then we have met up several time to do family pictures. Her heart is amazing. Her strength as a mother is awe inspiring. At our last family session (which I never blogged since the pictures were a surprise), she told me about a very special someone. I was thrilled to hear the news!

These two go way back. They went to high school prom together, twice. They have spent these years apart enduring love, life and loss. No longer. Now they are together, a family of four. I am so happy for you all...Many Blessings!

It always amazes me how small they are. Newborns. Tiny, squishy, sweet. No matter what their birth weight, they are tiny. Each little finger, each little toe. Yet, they grow so quickly. We have such a short time to really see them in this teeny tiny stage. In a blink they are chubby, laughing, rolling and crawling. I am so glad they I was able to be there and capture little tiny {L}. In a matter of moments we will look back and think, "wow! you were so tiny!"

I had the opportunity to work with Katie Segel of {My Kids Lids}. She started this business from the ground up and is a busy bee making the cutest quality hats I have ever seen for your kids lids. ;) Each and every hat is hand sewn! The detail she puts into each hat is wonderful. I look forward to working with her so that I can see all the new designs that she is working on! I absolutely LOVE the monsters this year. Yet, I have a feeling that I may be needing to add an Owl and Rooster to our winter hat collection! My oldest loves all of her hats by Katie, her favorite part-that they are so soft and warm. So beautiful. So sweet. So not into tutu's. :)

{a} was the happiest little girl, caring around a dirty stick. Even chewing on it a bit. Then we did a out fit change. We changed her into a special one year, specially made tutu. Oh boy! Not at all what she wanted. It took a little time, but before long she was happy again, in her tutu.

I hope she had a truly wonderful 1st birthday! She is precious and completely adorable.

I think it is safe to say little {J} fully enjoyed his birthday party! His Mama can sure throw one amazing party. Every single child present had a smile from ear to ear. Actually all the adults did too. Every where you turned there was something wonderful going on- face painting, balloon artist, egg hunt, rubber duckies floating near by, sno-cones and lot's of yummy food! It was truly a great time had by all! This is a very small peek at the festivities.

The score is now even. Not that we were keeping score, but the {D}Family is now all tied up, 4 girls and now 4 boys. The youngest of the bunch made his arrival the morning after his due date. He was a eager little guy, he didn't even wait for the midwife to arrive! Daddy was prepped what to do in case of a quick labor, being that that is how things had gone in the past. Lucky for me, we lived close enough for me to walk down in the early hours of the morning to get a few pictures in of the newest family member (I even beat the midwife there)!

I am a procrastinator. I don't mean to be one, it just happens. I have all the intentions to always have things done and ready, early. No matter what if I plan for it to happen early, it will inevitably be late. Take these Maternity pictures for example, I had been wanting to do them for awhile, yet we managed to squeeze them in on her due date. And it is a good thing, since about 12 hours later she was no longer preggo!
Early or late- this couple is amazing and beautiful! Look at them so in love, and mind you this is number 8! Doesn't she look amazing all while in labor! :) Love you guys- enjoy these.

I was able to stop by the fabulous miss {K}'s again to drop off her Maternity Pictures. I thought it would be nice to snap a few more since we are now past the due date and very ready for the arrival. {K} looked wonderful, but ready. The belly had most difiantly grown since our last visit. My little guy was able to send the baby a few "come on out" vibes and Jack the dog was able to meet my baby. He was not to sure of the whole baby thing but did a great job, just a little jealous of mama holding another baby.
Keep your eye out for baby pictures next week! Little {c} made her arrival last weekend. I am dying to meet this little lady, from the sounds of it she and daddy are having a great time chilling to some sweet tunes. Natural parents these two! ;)

Birthday {B}

In my attempt to catch up before the June rush hits- Here is mr {B}. He is now an official big one year old! {B} has a lovely party at My Gym. He sang songs, watched a puppet show, rode a train, swung on swings, rode a zip line, ate cake and pizza! It was a super fun moving time! Way overdue here. I have not forgotten about my blog, I just happened to have my arms full with one rolly polly little boy! I have enjoyed my break so very much. I spend my days cuddling and snuggling my newest little chunk. He is amazing. So that puts me overdue. Overdue on a few very wonderful sessions with some pretty wonderful folks.

This is miss {K}. She is someone that you just enjoy being around. If you find yourself having a bad day, you should hang out with {K}. I am pretty sure you will walk away feeling happy. Of course I have been able to be with her on two very special occasions. If you remember her down right perfect wedding here and now the pictures to remember the joy and bliss of carrying your first sweet baby. {K} you look amazing and completely radiant!

I hope everyone had a great Easter! I was given a beautiful Easter present this year, our little boy was born on Saturday the 3rd at 7:37pm. He is doing very well, as well as the rest of us. Here he is at 3 days old!

This was such a special session for me. Holding this little guy and taking his pictures was like looking into the future a little. In just a few short weeks I will be holding and looking down at my little one.

This wonderful family was the highest bidder for my photography package at a local benefit. It was so nice to finally meet them. We spent our afternoon taking pictures all around the grounds at the Wisconsin Club downtown. It made for a perfect place to move around and get beautiful pictures, inside and out! Thankfully we were able to venture outside on a simply beautiful Saturday, in January.

To all my amazing clients of 2009. What a year it has been. As Elle Photography ends this first year of business, I am so grateful for each and every client I have met. God has truly blessed this business. I continue to learn new things with each session and have grown so much in my deep love of photography. I am so excited for all the wonderful things 2010 has in store.

And while we are on the subject of 2010, let me post some availability changes. I am open for local bookings Jan. and Feb. as for March, I will only be booking Maternity, Newborn and Engagement sessions till the middle of the month. Then I will be on my personal Maternity leave till at least May 1st (will keep you updated when I know exactly). So please plan ahead for the Spring--better early, than never!;)

This was miss {K}'s first time out in the snow this year! She was a good sport, yet unsure of this white, cold surrounding! I just love this little ladies blue, blue eyes!

Years of Friendship

Over our Thankgiving vacation, I was able to meet up with a very wonderful friend of mine. Now that we live several states apart, we just do not get the chance to see each other very often. Thankfully both of our parent live in the same town. Every so often it works out that we are both back home at the same time. That happened to be this year! It had been over a year since I seen them-- and man, has little {g} grow up! You can check out his pictures from back then here.

I had a wonderful time this past weekend. I had the priviledge of photographing four wonderful families. Thank you to all who participated in the Weekend in Chicago. I personally do not know what I would have done with out my assistant Liz helping keep me organized! What an amazing weekend! After the very wet October we had, I wasn't sure what to expect for November. So far- It has been lovely.

I was able to spend the afternoon outside with this beautiful family enjoying the outdoors. We strolled around the woods hunting for perfect places to photograph. I think we did very well. Big brother {C} was the most fabulous 4 year old, all smile and great listening. Little {G} wasn't all smiles, but he was all cuteness!

Here is one of my favorite boys again! Two already- where does the time go? Not only is he turning two, he is going to be big brother. Which i think he is looking forward too, as much as two year old can. We were spoiled again by the georgous fall weather and senery. It is amazing to me the beauty that surrounds us here.

It seems as though photographing this little lady requires some sort of mishap. On this beautiful afternoon, while looking over the bridge, we lost a shoe! Luckily, after it took a trip down the river we were able to retrieve it. You can read about the last mishap here. The rest of the time went great though. I, however, was worn out! Let's just say this little girl has more energy than my little guy- and if you have meet my guy, you know that is saying a lot.

I seem to be having terrible luck with the weather these days. After a beautiful day, playing outside for most of it, the weather decided to cloud up real bad and sprinkle on us for a bit. We were able to get things done in a pretty timely manner- under one hour! Little miss {s} has no problem being the center of attention, must be a 1st born girl thing. ;) Little {p} wasn't as happy to have me around, but we managed alright.

I am really behind on my blogging! These were taken a couple weeks ago for a family I met through The Littlest Heroes Project. It was a complete honor to do these pictures for them. Things unfortunately got started out a little rough, our little missy took a big blow to her noggin by another swing! So, she was quite a trooper to continue for the next 45 mins. When we parted ways they ended up taking her into the hospital, where they discovered a concussion!!! Poor thing. Nevertheless, we managed to get some great picture.

Recently we took the kids to watch the salmon swim up stream. My dear husband always comes up with these great ideas for us to do! It was a joyous evening for me. It was peaceful, beautiful, calming and refreshing. My soul needed to be out in nature, breathing the fresh spring air. I sat quietly on the rocks taking it all in, looking through my lens and capturing all that I could soak up. It was glorious.

When you are a photographer and you happen to have cute kids...and the winter will not go away, you take pictures.
Here are some updated pictures of the fabulous {E} and wonderific {O}. They we very excited to get their pictures taken, which mind you is a very rare occasion. As a friend of mine once put it, they suffer from P.C.S. = Photographer's Child Syndrome. "The symptoms are obvious - inability to look at or smile at any camera, especially one held by the photographer parent. Inability to sit still for photos. Temporary bouts of deafness and lack of comprehension during photo sessions. The photographer parent suffers much distress because of this. The by-products of the disease are blurry photos with no eye contact or smiles." -Jen P.
It cracks me up, because it is so true! The camera comes out and bad behavior, distraction and the winnies come out. Needless to say I am very happy to have these pictures, especially since {O} has is fouxhawk on- which he likes, because then he fully believes the he is a spiketail dinosaur.

Congrats to the Winners!

"OK, so I would like to nominate me as one of your people for a free session w/ you.
I really can not afford a sitting fee, as my hubby is an adoption worker, and really does not make enough for us to be a one income family. The $100/wk I make goes toward our grocery bill. We have really cut back this year, got rid of cable, cut down our cell phone pack, not going out to eat, etc.
I am currently pregnant and we are trying to save up some $ for the birth. Chris has insurance, but we usually still have to pay about $2000 out of pocket.
I am due on Aug. 24, our 7 year anniversary...." -Heather

I am writing to nominate my friend Kelly for your photo give away. Kelly and I have been friends since middle school. We went our separate ways and bumped into each other a couple years ago at the public pool. It was like we never were apart. Anyway, we discovered we still have a lot in common and struggling to get pregnant was one of them. We did IVF (each of us for the 2nd time.........her 1st time didn't work, mine did hence Elizabeth) around the same time. We both became pregnant with twins, she was almost exactly 4 weeks behind me. Her pregnancy was hard from the beginning. She was so sick in the beginning, she had to be hospitalized for dehydration. Right when it was looking up she found out her cervix was starting to dilate and thin out way too early. Again long story short, she ended up on complete bed rest, having to take off of her job, she pretty much couldn't get off of her couch. She had to have steroid shots for her babies' lungs during another hospital stay when she was having contractions. She made it to 33 weeks and had her babies. Aiden and Olivia were born about 6 weeks early and spent 12 days in the NICU. She struggled for 5 years to have a baby and she was finally blessed with two. She's been through a lot, and what a better way to celebrate the end of her long struggle than with beautiful pics of her little ones. -Jessica

I was just at my cousin's baby's baptism yesterday and I thought they would be perfect to enter in the giveaway. She has a 10-11 month old and just had another baby 3 months early. He was born 3 lbs but maybe up to 6 by now. He is constantly on a heart/breathing monitor b/c sometimes his heart stops. She has to massage his heart til the alarm goes of or like last week take him into icu and get a blood transfusion. All that to say - I think she is overwhelmed having 2 babies and one with special needs , so I think she would make a good candidate. Her name is Crystal Borgwardt and her boys are Clayton (older) & Colton. -Jenny

What a great experience to go and photograph these two beauties. What makes this so special is that their mom and I went to school together! We attended the same school from 3rd grade until I moved away after 10th grade. It is always so surreal to see everyone all grown up raising their own families. We are no longer kids, although it seems like yesterday we were at each others birthday parties, playing at recess or probably, at times, having a girly spat! Thank you for opening your house to me, what a great time it was. Enjoy your little peek!
